About the Welsh language
Welsh, also known as “Cymraeg” or “y Gymraeg”, is one of the last surviving Celtic languages. A mere 700 thousand recognize Welsh as mother tongue, 300 thousand others as secondary language. That places Welsh second on the list of most-spoken Celtic language after Irish Gaelic.
Unfortunately, Welsh faces a challenge. Only 25% of the people living in Wales, speaks Welsh fluently. However there are various initiatives to not only maintain the language, but to increase its popularity. Since 2000, the teaching of Welsh has been compulsory in all schools in Wales up to age 16. Welsh is the only language in Great-Britain that lawfully co-exists with English.
Our Welsh voices can be booked for many different types of productions including movie trailers, corporate video, e-learnings, radio commercials, TV-commercials and voice response messages.
In Russia a Welsh speaking voiceover is called a “Валлийский голос за кадром”, in Portugal people talk about a “Waysh voiceover” and in Poland it’s referred to as a “Walijski voiceover”.
