THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE
American-English is a summary of dialects of the English language that is mainly used in the United States. The majority of people who speak English as their mother tongue live in America, and that variant is spoken in America by no less than 250 million people. Most people see it as a descendant of the British language. However, there is a whole lot of differences between the two. Some words are even older than the British version. This is because the British language changed a lot before the nineteenth century and only then did it really become fixed.
They differ most when it comes to phonetic pronunciation and vocabulary. A good example: the Americans go on vacation, while the British have a holiday. One more: in British, a booking or reservation is a "booking", whereas in the US it is called a "reservation". So if you think about it, Voicebooking is actually more British.
There are also differences in spelling. For example, in British English they write it as "speciality" and in American English they call it "specialty".
Another nice fact: did you know that a new word is added to the English dictionary every two hours? This means that the language grows with more than 4000 more words each year.
Languages spoken in countries surrounding the United States are Spanish, Canadian, and French.
Unlike the British language, the American language itself does not have many different general dialects, but rather more regional differences. These include the dialect from the city of Minnesota, which has influences from the German and Scandinavian languages.
Many of the American voices at Voicebooking.com live in big cities like Los Angeles, Hollywood and New York. Our American voice overs have all done many different productions such as cartoons and audio books. They have also been used for TV commercials, radio commercials, voice response messages, e-learning and, of course, film trailers. They've worked for brands like Coca Cola, Harley Davidson, Sony Entertainment, Nintendo and Disney. In short: these people have years of experience in making voice overs and know how to make them.
